We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Program Manager (Hybrid) on our JAMA / Scientific Publishing team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in program and project management required; experience within scholarly publishing environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams preferred.
  • Experience in people management preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation and presentation skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience with operational planning, implementation, and evaluation of multiple, complex projects including convening project teams, and organizing multi-faceted project plans.
  • Demonstrated analytical and data-driven approach to issues; demonstrated ability to measure program impact.
  • Ability to work with individuals from different disciplines, contributing as a team member, as well as being self-motivated and a strong individual contributor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interacting with senior medical experts or executives preferred.
  • Master's degree or PMP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the design and implementation of each JAMA+ channel project plan including maintaining project workflows, coordinating timelines and deliverables, creating project charters and workplans, setting goals, and implementing evaluation methods.
  • Manage and monitor work plans across multiple workstreams to ensure all milestones are met on time, with high quality, to budget, and to expectations; ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
  • Identify execution risks and operational challenges, communicate concerns to the Senior Program Manager and relevant stakeholders, and help implement mitigation approaches as appropriate.
  • Establish metrics to support evaluation of the JAMA+ program performance and impact. Track and report on program progress with data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify operational risks and challenges associated with the JAMA+ program and help develop risk mitigation plans to ensure smooth execution. Proactively address issues as they arise and implement contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
  • Support planning and execution activities for new JAMA+ channel launches. Manage collaborative Editorial and Publishing project team to develop launch plans.
  • In close collaboration with Editors in Chief and program team, develop and execute plans and workflows for content curation, multimedia, and features for new JAMA+ channels.
  • Manage complex cross-functional workflows for JAMA+ launches across technical, marketing, communications, program, and multimedia teams to ensure successful execution.
  • Evaluate, measure, and monitor the performance of new JAMA+ channels after launch.
  • Lead annual strategy meetings with JAMA+ Editors in Chief and teams across Editorial and Publishing.
  • Support planning and execution of JAMA Summit and related program initiatives.
  • In close collaboration with the Senior Program Manager, execute tactics to scale and grow the JAMA Summit program to increase and activate key audiences. Facilitate global outreach, society partnerships, and dissemination activities. Execute plans to increase Summit frequency.
  • Evaluate, measure, and monitor JAMA Summit impact across the lifecycle.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide management oversight for staff.
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating employee performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Responsible for developing staff knowledge and skills to support career development.
  • May include other responsibilities as assigned.
