Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in public health, business, related field with 4 years of experience in management of a emergency service, health care or public health program.
  • Master's degree will substitute for 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the management of the Arizona ambulance services Certificate of Necessity Licensing (CON) and rates program.
  • Oversight of ambulance provider certification licensing, recertification, response time compliance, establishment of general public rates, charges, contracts, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Serving as a resource for all administrative/lead staff, and overseeing work of direct reports for accuracy and compliance with applicable statutes, laws, and rules.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on statutes and rules, and providing technical assistance and guidance to EMS providers.
  • Participating in the monitoring and evaluation of programmatic activities; strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives; program policy, procedures and rules revision; participating in meetings with key stakeholders and professional organizations for program and systems performance evaluation; attending and representing office at local, regional, state and national meetings as needed.
  • Serving as a resource to other supervisory/lead staff in the bureau.
  • Planning, administration and personnel management.
  • Managing and directing subordinate staff (work assignments, setting priorities, hiring, discipline, provide training, approving leave requests, and preparing evaluations, etc.).
  • Reviewing, editing, and monitoring program requirements; ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensuring all forms and documents are accurately completed within required time frames; recommending corrective action plans as needed.
  • Providing training and technical assistance to stakeholders; serving as a resource for EMS agencies, health care facilities, and other organizations as needed to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Participating in quality assurance/performance improvement activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned as related to the position.
