Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years relevant experience, 2+ years being in a leadership role.
  • Licensed in the state of Minnesota as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Obtain 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems training within six months of hire.
  • At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
  • Must be comfortable working with people with life-controlling challenges, including mental health and addiction.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, staff, and leadership.
  • The ability to live and work by MnTC’s culture of honor & core values – practicing compassion, honor, respect, integrity, servanthood, and trust.
  • Ability to successfully complete MN Dept of Human Services background study.
  • Knowledge and understanding of implications of Minnesota Statutes.
  • Must be able to meet specific staff requirements outlined in Minnesota Statutes 245G.11.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Alcohol & Drug Counselors and Recovery Care Specialist program and the personnel involved with it, including all assigned staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Ensure treatment services provided to individual clients be provided in the individual treatment plan individual and group counseling, client education strategies, transition services, services to address issues related to co-occurring mental illness in compliance with Minnesota Statutes.
  • Ensure all assessments, documentation, reviews, and State reporting are completed and in compliance with Minnesota Statutes.
  • Hiring and termination of staff, including interviewing and onboarding.
  • Ensures program staff are supervising clients according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensures staff receive required training.
  • Monitors staff performance and institutes corrective action or training in order to bring performance to an acceptable level.
  • Addresses medication errors with staff.
  • Generate and maintain staffing schedule.
  • Approves payroll and leave requests.
  • Conducts annual employee reviews.
  • Maintains a calendar of approved PTO and LOA.
  • Ensures that all shifts have adequate staff coverage.
  • Attends shift change with staff.
  • Reviews facility log on a routine basis to ensure policies and procedures are being followed by staff.
  • Monitors and tracks time studies.
  • Assists staff with shift assignments and shift change.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Director as issues arise and to discuss ideas for improving program operations and communication.
  • Coordinates events for clients with support from Program Administrator.
  • Other duties as assigned by director or other senior management.
