About The Position

Daimler Truck’s Powertrain Procurement and Supplier Management team in Detroit is seeking a highly motivated Program Manager. The Program Manager will focus on working with internal and external stakeholders to drive USMCA strategy, coordinate tariff mitigation and material cost down initiatives, as well as steering future powertrain projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, business, or related field and 5 years of related experience or 8 years of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Courageous self-starter that thrives in a fast paced, constantly changing, and sometimes conflict-based environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Team player who can drive complex and cross-functional topics to closure.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills as well as assertiveness and coordination skills.

  • The ability to see the big picture with demonstrated experience in driving an organization to reach operational as well as strategic objectives is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in analyzing economic and market factors that affect material costs.
  • Supply chain or purchasing experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Prior import/export experience and familiarity with existing free trade agreements.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and managing cross functional teams is preferred.
  • Knowledge of existing Daimler Truck powertrain products and processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language.

Responsibilities

  • Purchasing Interface for USMCA RVC Strategy: Key Purchasing interface between TN and TT for Powertrain USMCA RVC strategy, forecasting, and fulfillment. Development and facilitation of a sound and sustainable RVC review and tracking process involving cross-functional stakeholders. Work with cross-functional stakeholders to implement process and system changes to further improve RVC visibility and DDC forecast accuracy. Support Powertrain Purchasing with RVC business case evaluation, provide guidance and facilitate discussion with customers where necessary. Recommend fact-based and unbiased procurement decisions based on the most favorable outcome for the company. Upholding the values of Daimler Truck and adhering to governmental law and company policy.
  • Project Lead for Future Powertrain Projects: Support supplier strategy development for all project parts, independent of responsible buyer. Ensure timely completion of purchasing milestones, including sourcing new components, and meeting project targets. Participation in global and local project meetings. Prepare regular status reports and updates to present to local and global Daimler Truck management.
  • Material Cost Optimization / Tariff Mitigation: Coordinate material cost optimization and DDC tariff mitigation as DDC key account in global cost down programs and tariff task force. Identify and support implementation of cost down and tariff mitigation measures in alignment with global cross functions. Support and organize cost down activities such as competitor benchmarking, procurement analytics, and cross-functional deep dives. Track and report on all DDC procurement measures. Work with European procurement counterparts and cost engineering to identify onshoring opportunities. Provide guidance and business case support on tariff mitigation measures in consultation with DTNA trade compliance experts.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate ongoing processes, tools, systems, meetings, and communications to find ways to work more efficiently and effectively, both internally and externally. Collaborate with TT/GX departments, DDC stakeholders, and other business partners to improve processes.
  • Compliance: Ensure processes are followed and required documentation is complete and compliant per established processes and requirements.
