About The Position

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services for over 125 years, offering 160-plus programs and services for various age groups and those with mental illness. The Older Adult Centers focus on promoting an active life for seniors, helping them maintain independence and health through diverse activities and services like meals, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, exercise classes, discussion groups, games, art classes, lectures, organized outings, and special events. The Program Manager is responsible for the daily administration and operation of the Older Adult Center. This includes ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment, delivering quality services, adhering to the budget, and meeting all contractual obligations. The role involves establishing strong connections with local health providers, NORC, and other community organizations to ensure continuity of care and support the strategy for seniors to "age in place". The Program Manager will foster an environment that celebrates and respects the diversity of all ethnic older adult members, ensure quality programs and services (including meals) in compliance with agency and funding source regulations, and hold staff accountable for service planning and implementation. This includes food service management, provision of supportive services, and maintaining sanitary, safety, and health guidelines. The role also ensures program and staff compliance with agency and contractual regulations, fiscal accountability, and budget adherence. The Program Manager will prepare periodic reports for the Director of Field Operations on service progress, programmatic issues, service levels, staff matters, building concerns, outreach efforts, and other relevant topics. Site and incident reviews of clients and staff are also part of the responsibilities, as is representing the program at agency and community meetings and workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Three years of experience in Human Service or Social Service field.
  • One year of supervisory /administrative experience preferably with the older adults.
  • Good written & oral and listening skills.
  • Experience working with the community and advocacy.
  • Experience with direct service provision to clients.
  • Prior supervisory or administrative experience required.
  • Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to speak in front of large groups of people.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, according to the needs of program operation.
  • Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
