About The Position

The Program Manager will report to the Director, Leadership & Social Impact and will play a key role in supporting strategic execution and management of the WomenLeaders India Fellowship, ensuring the program is delivered with excellence, on time, within budget, and aligned with department and organizational impact goals. The Program Manager bridges high-level planning with on-the-ground operations, managing the program lifecycle from design through delivery, evaluation, and reporting. This role combines strategic thinking, financial management, relationship-building, curriculum and facilitation expertise, and team coordination to ensure the Fellowship's integrity, visibility, and long-term sustainability. The Program Manager will work closely with the WomenLeaders India Fellowship teams in the United States, the program partner team in India, cross-functional Vital Voices teams, trainers, and participants to effectively serve women leaders in India and across the Vital Voices network. Remote candidates will not be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, international development, public administration, business, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred, plus 4–8 years of relevant professional experience required. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
  • Demonstrated experience in global women’s issues, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, women’s entrepreneurship, women’s leadership, civil society, and/or social impact programming.
  • Strong relationship-building, stakeholder engagement, and stewardship skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain effective relationships with program participants, partners, funders, trainers, and internal teams.
  • Excellent complex project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, deliverables, budgets, logistics, risks, and competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including the ability to draft reports, program materials, donor updates, presentations, and participant-facing communications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, swiftly shift priorities, and work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines, sometimes under difficult or challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity, self-awareness, and commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered approaches.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; social networking tools; project management tools; and database software such as Salesforce.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to support shared objectives, coordinate across teams, and contribute to a positive and solutions-oriented team culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing curriculum, developing learning journeys, and leading or facilitating virtual and in-person trainings, workshops, or convenings strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in or with India, South Asia, or India-focused leadership, entrepreneurship, or civil society programs desired.
  • Hindi or other relevant Indian language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead program planning, execution, and evaluation, ensuring objectives, timelines, deliverables, and risks are effectively managed in alignment with organizational goals and the WomenLeaders India Fellowship model.
  • Design, adapt, and facilitate virtual and in-person training sessions and learning journeys for women leaders and social entrepreneurs, integrating adult-learning practices and participant feedback.
  • Manage travel, procurement, contracts, program materials, participant logistics, and convening operations to ensure quality, policy compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets and forecasts, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and optimal resource allocation.
  • Manage evaluation plans, tools, feedback systems, and reports, integrating data insights into program improvements and strategic decisions.
  • Support proposal development, funder relationship management, donor reporting, and renewal strategies to sustain and grow program funding.
  • Support program messaging, branding, storytelling, and strategic communications to stakeholders, partners, and the public, ensuring alignment and consistency.
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with program participants, trainers, partners, Vital Voices Network leaders, corporate partners, and donors across different backgrounds and contexts.
  • Work collaboratively with the Leadership and Social Impact team members, Finance, Development, Communications, and other internal teams to advance shared program objectives.
  • Support and supervise interns, contractors, and consultants as needed, including onboarding, work planning, weekly check-ins, capacity management, and professional development support.
  • Provide support for department activities.
