About The Position

This role is responsible for facilitating high complexity or multiple medium complexity initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with Agile Project Management practices. The Program Manager will be accountable alongside the team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders’ needs and expectations. They will remove impediments to delivery success through proactive management of external dependencies, facilitation of team problem-solving, and enabling delivery teams to develop new approaches to ongoing challenges. The role also involves managing risk governance processes, operational planning, vendor management, and escalating issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary. The Program Manager will act as the liaison between Ventures and the larger RBC Enterprise on delivery and integration as needed, leading without authority in an environment of ambiguity and applying flexible/adaptable approaches to solving problems. Additionally, the role involves communicating cross-functionally to ensure transparency of progress and outcomes, reporting team progress and accomplishments up and across the organization, and driving stakeholder meetings. The Program Manager will also champion a continuous improvement mindset and culture, seeking to improve team performance related to processes, tools, and techniques by promoting joint accountability of results and solving productivity issues. This includes defining and tracking key team performance metrics and engaging in and facilitating requirements, user experience, and technical conversations across platforms and multiple levels of influence, as well as providing proactive coaching to individuals on the business and technology teams to help mature the agile delivery practice.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate high complexity or multiple medium complexity initiatives from initiation through release, provide oversight to ensure alignment with Agile Project Management practices including, but not limited to project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planning
  • Accountable alongside the team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders’ needs and expectations
  • Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, facilitation of team problem-solving, enabling delivery teams to develop new approaches to ongoing challenges
  • Manage risk governance processes, operational planning, vendor management, escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary
  • Act as the liaison between Ventures and the larger RBC Enterprise on delivery and integration as needed
  • Lead without authority, work in an environment of ambiguity and apply flexible/adaptable approaches to solving problems
  • Communicate cross functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes, report team progress and accomplishments up and across the organization
  • Drive stakeholder meetings to ensure transparency and accountability across the organization & facilitate cross functional communication by documented status updates, sprint/product demos and team retrospectives
  • Champion continuous improvement mindset and culture, seek to improve team performance related to processes, tools, techniques by promoting joint accountability of results and solving productivity issues. Includes defining and tracking key team performance metrics to reinforce expected behaviors (DORA metrics, Say/Do ratio, unit test coverage, etc.)
  • Engage in and facilitate requirements, user experience and technical conversations across platforms and multiple levels of influence
  • Provide proactive coaching to individuals on the business and technology teams to help mature the agile delivery practice.
