About The Position

Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) is seeking a full-time Program Manager of Community Safety & Transit Operations to join their Metropolitan Peace Initiatives Team. MFS is a comprehensive human services agency dedicated to promoting education, economic stability, emotional wellness, and empowerment. This role is crucial to spearheading the Communities Partnering 4 Peace framework, which aims to reduce violence and gang activity through community-driven strategies. The program manager will oversee field operations, coordinate training, and collaborate with various stakeholders to create safer communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public health, criminology, sociology, and or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in training, street outreach, or equivalent.
  • Experience supervising field managers, program supervisors, or operations leaders with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience operating violence interruption, street outreach, or community safety programs in high-traffic, mobile public spaces or 24-hour operational environments.
  • Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises all Senior Field Managers who serve as field-level operations leads coordinating staffing, schedules, and deployment strategies across the CTA transit environment.
  • Fosters an environment of open communication and collaboration, which builds a student-centered, community-focused team among all field staff and partners.
  • Ensures that training and standards are operationalized with fidelity in the field by Senior Field Managers and partner agency staff.
  • Coordinates a range of training programs for violence intervention, de-escalation, and situational awareness specific to navigating youth group behavior safely within a transit environment.
  • Provides technical support to the field in implementing new strategies that demonstrate program model fidelity, golden thread documentation, collaboration across communities, and use of evaluation feedback to inform practice.
  • Actively participates in forums, meetings, and strategy sessions with community members, public officials, law enforcement (such as CPD and OEMC), and CTA leadership.
  • Authorizes personnel actions, in consultation with Human Resources; promotes staff diversity; provides supervision, consultation and training to staff; and consistently evaluates performance, providing coaching and timely feedback as needed.
