About The Position

The Program Manager II is responsible for the execution of all aspects of the program to ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with technical and contractual requirements, schedules and budgets. Program Manager II is the focal point for the company for communications with the customer (internal / external) and is responsible for ensuring customer requirements are flowed down to all functional departments. Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to lead without authority, negotiate and manage by influence.
  • Strong people and time management skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and across all organizational levels.
  • Detail oriented, positive friendly customer service are key attributes.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Computer knowledge and skills, i.e. MS Office Suite – Word, Power Point and Excel are required.
  • Basic understanding of lean and six sigma principles and methodologies.
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent years of experience.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in production control, contracts management, project management or contracts management.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems strongly preferred
  • Certification in PMP and or CAPM preferred, Contracts Administration, Project Management preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead integrated project team (IPT) meetings as the program manager responsible for meeting customer or R&D project requirements
  • Accountable for program execution for entire lifecycle from proposal, product development, production ramp, produce to deliver, and supporting fielded products
  • Represents the company in contacts with the customer and outside parties for all issues concerning the assigned program.
  • Review program performance to provide ongoing visibility for project cost, margin and schedule (actual vs. projected).
  • Champion/lead Kaizen and Lean activities that drive improvement in both operational and administrative areas.
  • Critical liaison across Engineering, Contracts, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to coordinate schedule and commitments to all stakeholders
  • Drive the utilization of our ERP system to incorporate program management related activities from program proposals and capture through execution
  • Support development and enhancement of process maps and updating of the program management related tasks within our Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Support bid and proposal process
  • Support the engineering team in preparing and submitting content for design reviews and contract deliverables
  • Responsible for developing project plans and maintaining schedule as the project progresses
  • Manage prototype build templates and coordinate with the supply chain and manufacturing teams to deliver hardware in fast paced environment
  • Manage production ramp activities such as first article inspection, acceptance testing, pilot builds, and low rate initial production, and other customer requirements
  • Ensure customer shipment dates are met and communicate updates to customer and leadership team
  • Provide priority to the shop floor to ensure customer and financial commit dates are met
