About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Office of State Human Resources, Division of Temporary Solutions. This temporary position is located at 3200 Beachleaf Ct., Raleigh, 27604 -- Wake County, with the Department of Insurance. The hourly rate of pay is $25.00, based on education and/or years of relevant work experience. Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. The position assists with the Smart NC program, which helps consumers resolve disputes with their health insurance companies. Duties include assisting with denied claims, medical appeals, external reviews, and insurance-related complaints. This position provides direct consumer assistance, addressing questions and concerns related to health insurance denials and coverage issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in call center operations, customer assistance, or related support roles.
• Experience working with insurance plans, claims processes, or health coverage inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with denied claims, medical appeals, external reviews, and insurance-related complaints.
• Providing direct consumer assistance, addressing questions and concerns related to health insurance denials and coverage issues.

Benefits

• Health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) may be available for temporary employees working an annual average of 30 or more hours per week.
