About The Position

The Program Manager I will join Box’s IT Operations PMO, which is building a scalable model for how IT plans, prioritizes, and delivers work. This hands-on role owns assigned projects and workstreams, provides structured project management support, and helps maintain planning, reporting, documentation, and Agile practices across the IT Operations portfolio. The role partners with experienced Program Managers and PMO leadership, with opportunities to assume broader program responsibility as experience and judgment grow. The position leads lower-to-mid complexity IT projects from intake through closeout, coordinating technical and business partners and maintaining plans, status, reporting, and project documentation. It also supports healthy backlogs, Kanban practices, continuous improvement, and the use of AI and automation to improve delivery efficiency and visibility. Box employees are expected to work from their assigned office at least three days per week. The role is eligible for equity and benefits. The United States pay range is $94,000–$94,300 USD.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of hands-on program management experience with technology, IT, business systems, or cross-functional projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and stakeholder communication.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills and strong meeting facilitation abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Agile practices, Scrum, or Kanban, and comfort managing changing priorities while maintaining visibility and structure.
  • Ability to take ownership without constant direction, ask for help when context or authority is unclear, and distinguish coordinating a problem from owning it.
  • Ability to independently build and defend a project plan, conduct risk and dependency analysis, and make scope, timeline, and escalation recommendations using professional judgment.
  • Experience with Jira or a similar project management platform.
  • Strong comfort with spreadsheets, dashboards, documentation tools, and collaboration platforms; willingness to learn new tools and use automation or AI to improve routine work.
  • Ability to evaluate, correct, and take accountability for AI-generated work.
  • Curiosity about systems, processes, and organizations; receptiveness to feedback; and interest in growing into broader program ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned projects and workstreams, leading lower-to-mid complexity IT projects from intake through closeout.
  • Create and maintain delivery plans covering scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and success criteria.
  • Coordinate technical and business partners to keep work moving, and facilitate meetings and working sessions that produce clear decisions and next steps.
  • Maintain accurate project status and communicate changes early; support project intake, planning, and portfolio data quality using Jira, Airtable, Box, and other PMO tools.
  • Prepare status reporting, dashboards, and metrics for review by senior PMO team members.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, current, and appropriate to the complexity of the work.
  • Support IT Operations teams in maintaining healthy backlogs and clear work definitions, including Kanban practices, flow visibility, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify recurring delivery friction, gaps, or manual work and suggest practical improvements using Jira, Airtable, AI tools, and automation.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and delivery concerns early; resolve issues independently when appropriate and escalate or consult when needed.
  • Partner with senior Program Managers on more complex programs and workstreams, building capability in program management, portfolio thinking, Agile practices, and stakeholder leadership.
