About The Position

The Program Manager I is responsible for providing administrative, operational and programmatic oversight for two interrelated but distinct programs: 1) the Institute for Health Equity Research’s Community Engagement Core (IHER CEC) and 2) the Career Opportunity and Support (COS) team within the Office of Professional Engagement and Development. The Program Manager I will develop and have a thorough knowledge of institutional and program policies and procedures and will be instrumental in managing and developing programs through IHER CEC and COS that support both these entities’ core missions. Time will be split between these distinct programs. The IHER CEC works toward optimizing the health and lives of groups most significantly and unjustly impacted by systemic inequities through representative and durable community partnerships. Through a variety of initiatives, we foster collaboration between researchers, community leaders, and residents to drive sustainable change and promote health equity. This work is community- and public health oriented. The Program Manager I will be responsible for developing and implementing workplans related to the CEC’s community board, community-engaged research seminar series, and other relevant tasks. The Program Manager I will also provide administrative support to IHER, creating and updating relevant content for LinkedIn, internal communications, and related tasks. The COS strives to create a culture where faculty, students, and trainees are all valued and have the opportunity to succeed and thrive. We work closely with individuals and leaders across Mount Sinai to provide programming and resources that enhance a fair, supportive environment for all. This work is workforce oriented, and the Program Manager I will be responsible for developing and implementing workplans associated with career development programs, professional development, promotion of awards and special programs, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or greater preferred, or a combination of applicable experience and education
  • 3+ years experience (5 preferred), managing and administrating program activities for assigned area

Responsibilities

  • Manages overall workflows by providing leadership and setting an effective agenda and timeline to ensure teams’ goals are met; manages up (leadership) and across (colleagues) in addition to overseeing and managing the activities of volunteers, consultants, and workgroup members (as applicable).
  • Develops and independently implements new or revised program goals, strategies and objectives to sustain and grow programs and services.
  • For IHER CEC this includes: overseeing engagement with our Catalyst Community Board including scheduling meetings, maintaining communication, and co-developing new partnership priorities; developing and implementing a quarterly seminar series on community engaged research strategies; and supporting community-partnered research workgroups.
  • For COS this includes: managing calls for proposals, applicant reviews, and programming for leadership programs; implementing a quarterly seminar series to support workforce culture, climate, and inclusion; and managing the dissemination, solicitation, and selection of proposals for limited submission awards and funding opportunities for faculty and fellows.
  • Develops and schedules a program work plan in accordance with specifications, objectives and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates program activities; prioritizes and implements and/or delegates (as appropriate) work activities.
  • Maintains liaison with staff in other departments to coordinate program activities and training; to accomplish program objectives; and to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized.
  • Administers program procedures and systems.
  • Gathers information for the team regarding program and Mount Sinai Medical Center’s policies and procedures.
  • Confers with and advises staff and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretations; refers to appropriate department or person when unable to respond.
  • Takes an active role in developing the program budgets and grants.
  • May monitor, verify and oversee the reconciliation of budget expenditures; oversees and implements purchasing.
  • May collaborate with program leadership to prepares proposals for corporate and foundation funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors/donors.
  • May support research activities, including qualitative and quantitative analyses of secondary and primary data.
  • Performs other related duties.
