About The Position

The Studio for High-Performance Design and Construction (Studio HPDC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing sustainable, energy-efficient, and high-performance building practices. They achieve this through education, workforce development, and professional community building, with a focus on addressing climate change through the built environment. Studio HPDC aims to develop new approaches to training, certification, and career pathways in high-performance building, with the goal of widely distributing learning opportunities to make sustainable building careers accessible at the scale needed for decarbonization. The Program Manager will oversee the day-to-day delivery of Studio HPDC’s High-Performance Building courses, which are targeted at mid-career builders in Eastern Massachusetts. The 'High-Performance Building for Carpenters' course is their flagship program. The role involves significant participation in course development work, aiming to enhance facilitator recruitment and retention, expand course offerings, and reach a larger audience of mid-career builders. This position requires a blend of program management, data analysis, team-building, facilitation, creativity, cultural competency, technical knowledge in sustainable building, and the ability to manage comprehensive educational programs aligned with the organization's mission.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing and delivering educational programs, preferably in sustainable building, energy efficiency, or environmental sustainability.
  • Experience with instructional design and adult learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and drive them to successful completion, including developing and executing work plans, and delivering complex project activities on time and within budget.
  • Familiarity and some direct experience with high-performance building practices, including energy efficiency, renewable energy systems, sustainable materials, and green building certifications.
  • Comfort and skill operating in a small, growing organization where systems and processes are being built as work is delivered.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Expertise with cultural competency: understanding the diverse cultural backgrounds, histories, and experiences of students.
  • Passion for environmental sustainability and a commitment to promoting high-performance building practices through education and capacity-building.
  • Skilled at use of Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Support Studio HPDC marketing efforts for the High-Performance Building courses, including creating social media posts and brochures, and using social media to identify new builder relationships.
  • Manage the pipeline of course participant leads and relationships to encourage new and repeat enrollment.
  • Create summary materials describing Studio HPDC’s courses and their impact for various audiences.
  • Manage the data and logistics of participants and facilitators, including payments, participant and facilitator information, completion data, and support for tuition grants.
  • Organize and deliver facilitator preparation and debrief sessions, and orientation for guest professionals.
  • Prepare training sites for each session, including setting up tables, chairs, printed materials, projectors, slides, mock-up assembly materials, tools, and arranging for food and beverages.
  • Ensure course materials are up-to-date, in stock, organized, and shareable with partners and funders.
  • Capture and track feedback on the course, participant learning outcomes, and outreach efforts, summarizing data for internal and external audiences.
  • Support grant writing and fundraising campaigns related to the course and its expansion.
  • Engage and build inclusive relationships with diverse external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, facility managers, technical educators, policymakers, learning scientists, donors, and community members.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and community outreach activities related to high-performance building education.
  • Participate in and contribute to building science community discussions.
