Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Program Manager 1 for our Sentinel Program Leadership Team to support the Sentinel (was Ground Based Strategic Deterrent) Program in our Propulsion Systems Business Unit at our Promontory, UT campus. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or Business with 5 years’ experience supporting US government contracts
  • Two plus years’ experience in Program or Project Management, or team lead
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve single objective
  • Ability to develop workflows
  • Familiarity with Program Management methodologies such as EVMS
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • In-depth understanding of customer requirements, both technically and contractual, to ensure customer needs are met
  • Experience in Configuration Management
  • Ability to integrate AI into existing workflows to enhance efficiency, improve decision-making, and streamline routine tasks

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the continued development, manufacturing and test of three new medium-class solid propulsion rocket motors (SRMs) in support of the Northrop Grumman Sentinel prime contract.
  • Providing support and leadership to matrixed and multi-disciplined teams.
  • Program Deliverables to support the expanded number and scope of contract deliverables (associated with recent Replans).
  • Work closely with program team leadership and team members to execute the expanded design documentation and contract deliverables at Propulsion Systems.
  • Interfacing with Program IPT (Integrated Product Team) and VSET (Value Stream Element Team) leads and share accountability for quality, schedule and technical execution.
  • Lead successful program execution by managing risk, safety, quality, schedule, technical performance, and cost to meet requirements on time and within budget.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and resolve program issues and risks; drive continuous improvement and challenge the status quo to achieve results.
  • Serve as a primary customer interface, ensuring issues are resolved and requirements changes are managed in alignment with business objectives, contract terms, regulations, and internal guidelines.
  • Balance the interests of the customer, the business, and employees while representing the program and organization in a professional manner.
  • Support management of the program team, including coaching, conflict resolution, performance feedback, and initiating corrective actions when needed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities (e.g., contracts, finance, engineering, operations) to ensure alignment and effective execution of program tasks.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute program plans and schedules, including performance to the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and critical milestones.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with functional and technical leads to drive technical excellence, balance risk, and deliver required performance.
  • Utilize division and program management systems to track progress, remove roadblocks, and keep the program moving forward.
  • Support business development by delivering on-time, on-cost performance and leveraging existing scope to grow and win additional work.
