About The Position

Synopsys is seeking a Principal technical program manager to manage high-stakes Silicon IP programs for tier-one customers. The role leads IP development from initial requirements through silicon bring-up, ensuring delivery against committed schedules and specifications. It serves as the primary technical and operational connection between customers and Synopsys teams across Sales, Marketing, FAE, CAE, and R&D. The position plans programs spanning standard IP deliveries, custom IP development, and foundry process technology node transitions. It coordinates customer SoC integration and validation, translates customer requirements into actionable plans, manages risks and dependencies, and communicates status to stakeholders from engineering teams to executive leadership. The role is based in Sunnyvale, California, and is not remote eligible. Program outcomes include helping customers meet SoC tape-out schedules, reducing integration risk, strengthening customer partnerships, informing IP development priorities, and improving execution across distributed teams. The role requires a technically credible, customer-focused leader able to operate amid ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10 to 15+ years of relevant experience in program management or technical leadership roles.
  • Proven track record managing programs in analog and digital SoC design environments and delivering complex technical programs on schedule.
  • Deep knowledge of IC manufacturing, process technology, design flow, and sign-off processes.
  • Understanding of memory and standard cell design, including how IP integrates into SoC design flows and potential integration issues.
  • Experience working directly with customers in a technical or program capacity, managing expectations and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs with competing priorities, make trade-off decisions, and keep teams aligned.
  • Strong technical communication skills, including explaining complex integration issues to customer architects and translating them into actionable plans for internal R&D.
  • Ability to operate amid ambiguity, identify requirements gaps, escalate or resolve issues appropriately, and challenge unrealistic schedules or risky integration approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, track, and escalate technical and schedule risks, and drive issues to resolution across internal teams and external customer stakeholders.
  • Coordinate IP integration with customer SoC design teams, including IP acquisition, integration, and silicon validation.
  • Translate customer SoC requirements into actionable development plans and align IP roadmaps with customer product timelines in collaboration with R&D.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders at engineering and executive levels.
  • Bring customer feedback and real-world integration challenges to R&D to influence internal IP development priorities.
