About The Position

Kentucky’s Medical Cannabis program is looking for a Program Investigator III to conduct investigations of compliance and enforcement. This position will conduct complex level investigations using investigative and interviewing skills to interview business owners, citizens, and others. The Program Investigator III will draft detailed reports outlining compliance or non-compliance with medical cannabis laws and regulations. This position will also research and maintain current knowledge of general policy, procedures, regulations, and statutes to ensure accuracy when completing investigations. This position will report to an office in Frankfort, Kentucky and may require in-state travel, and overtime. The agency may authorize the selected candidate to telecommute. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of experience in the field of investigation, administrative, business, or social work/eligibility experience.
  • Graduate study in the above fields will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience in one of the above fields will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
  • Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license prior employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex investigations to determine compliance with medical cannabis laws and regulations.
  • Interprets laws, regulations and policies for the medical cannabis enforcement and compliance program.
  • Draft detailed reports and recommendations based on investigations.
  • Draft other written correspondence.
  • Reviews reports for accuracy.
  • Conduct research and study laws, statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Responds to inquiries from providers, patients, the public, and others.
  • Provide guidance and training to branch staff as directed.
  • May testify in administrative or judicial proceedings.
  • Attend training.
  • Represents the branch by attending meetings to provide technical program information.
