About The Position

The Village of Tansley Woods has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time PAL Coordinator to join their team. As a new PAL Coordinator, you will support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of care to our residents. You will work as key members of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their physical care. Requirements

  • Have a Degree in Kinesiology with a focus on psychomotor behaviour and exercise rehabilitation
  • Be familiar with completing resident transfer assessments
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
  • Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the role

Nice To Haves

  • Registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices
  • Experience and/or desire to provide educational sessions/ seminars
  • Demonstrated experience working with seniors and/or persons with cognitive or physical impairments
  • Experience working in the retirement and long-term care sector (e.g.. School placement)

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative cognitive and physical exercise programs for residents, both individuals and in groups
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure resident goals are met
  • Collaborate with external partners in order to provide exceptional service to our residents
  • Provide leadership and supervision of Kinesiology Co-Op placements, Students and Volunteers who assist with the PAL program
  • Facilitate education sessions such as lift & transfer, body mechanics, active living
  • Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of care to our residents
  • Work as key members of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their physical care
