Program for Active Living (PAL) Coordinator Long Term Care- PERMANENT FULLTIME
About The Position
The Village of Erin Meadows has an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Fulltime PAL Coordinator to join their team. This role involves supporting and embracing our resident-centered social culture and delivering the highest quality of care. You will work as a key member of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ needs and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their physical care. Schlegel Villages is redefining elder care through innovation, Village design, and culture change, aiming to provide all members of our communities, including team members, with a life enriching experience. The mission is to provide holistic health care in a home environment, located within an internal neighbourhood design that promotes a caring community with emphasis on optimal health and life purpose for each resident.
Requirements
- Have a Degree in Kinesiology with a focus on psychomotor behaviour and exercise rehabilitation
Nice To Haves
- Registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
- Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices
- Experience and/or desire to provide educational sessions/ seminars
- Demonstrated experience working with seniors and/or persons with cognitive or physical impairments
- Experience working in the retirement and long-term care sector (e.g.. School placement)
Responsibilities
- Design and implement innovative cognitive and physical exercise programs for residents, both individuals and in groups
- Collaborate with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure resident goals are met
- Be familiar with completing resident transfer assessments
- Collaborate with external partners in order to provide exceptional service to our residents
- Provide leadership and supervision of Kinesiology Co-Op placements, Students and Volunteers who assist with the PAL program
- Facilitate education sessions such as lift & transfer, body mechanics, active living
- Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
- Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the role
