The Program Facilitator is responsible for creating and facilitating remarkable youth group programming. This includes supporting and planning of assorted opportunities and activities that focus on youth engagement, promoting hope, social and emotional learning, identity, community connection, life skills and progress to self-sufficiency. This role is for after school clubs program. This is a contractual role till end of June, 2027 (With a possibility of extension). Timings: Monday - Thursday (2.30pm - 6.00pm) and Friday (12.00pm - 6.00pm)

Requirements

  • 2-5 years' experience in working with youth.
  • Culturally competent, with an understanding of diversity and issues and/or barriers youth face and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Ability to work in a variety of situations, develop and maintain relationships with other professionals within the community.
  • Strong organization and administrative skills
  • Able to work flexible hours according to the needs of the youth, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Current Standard First Aid / Basic Rescuer CPR
  • Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Welfare Intervention Check

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Social Work, Education, Child and Youth Care, Behavioral Science, Psychology, Intercultural Studies, or a related discipline with a concentration on cultural studies an asset.
  • A level in ECE through Alberta Government will be considered as an asset.
  • Language proficiency in other languages an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide clients with a safe environment to learn new developmental skills, interact and build community with other peers, and enhance social, emotional, and experiential learning.
  • Facilitation of group programming that comes from trauma informed, strength based, and culturally aware lenses.
  • Demonstrate leadership in anti-racism and reconciliation.
  • Be a liaison with families and/or natural supports.
  • Participate in collaborative committees as they pertain to the Youth Strategy, including those of external agencies and Trellis’ own internal programs.
  • Promotion of programming via social media and external connections.
  • Provide referrals and system navigation to other agencies services when appropriate and requested by program participants.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Responsible for collecting necessary documents for services, including immigration information and all intake information as required by Trellis.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting including icare data entry, tracking attendance, success stories, activity summaries, and all reporting required by Program Manager
  • Collection of surveys and outcome measurement tools from youth participants
  • Complete data collection and reporting for any applicable grants.
  • Support in the writing of grant proposals and funding applications, and annual reports as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
