About The Position

At Dungarvin, we are a mission-driven team dedicated to providing person-centered support services, enabling individuals to live as independently as possible. Since 1976, we have worked with people in need of assistance, including those with intellectual or developmental disabilities or other complex medical needs, across 17 states. As a Program Director, you will lead residential programs, specifically high-acuity behavioral homes (AFH settings), serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who also have complex behavioral and mental health needs. This role is for a strong, hands-on leader who can confidently guide teams through crisis situations and is passionate about person-centered, trauma-informed care. The position involves programs in the Madison Area, with occasional travel to Baraboo & Lyndon Station.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
• Experience supporting individuals with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses
• At least one-year, hands-on experience with behavioral interventions and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs)
• Proven ability to manage crisis situations, de-escalation, and high-risk behaviors
• Strong decision-making, communication, and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

• Experience in residential, group home, or behavioral health settings highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee residential programs, including high-acuity behavioral homes (AFH settings)
• Supervise, coach, and develop teams of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
• Drive implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and partner on Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
• Provide leadership during crisis situations, ensuring safe, consistent, and compliant responses
• Collaborate with families, case managers, and clinical teams to ensure quality care
• Manage program operations including staffing, budgets, and compliance
• Train new and existing staff on behavioral interventions, safety protocols, and best practices
• Conduct performance management, including coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary action as needed
• Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting both traditional and behavioral programs
