About The Position

At Dungarvin, we are a mission-driven team dedicated to providing person-centered support services since 1976, helping individuals live as independently as possible. This role focuses on leading residential programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who also have complex behavioral and mental health needs. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in high-acuity environments, can guide teams through crisis, and is passionate about person-centered, trauma-informed care. The Program Director will oversee programs in the Baraboo & Lyndon Station areas, with occasional travel to Madison.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or related field
  • Experience supporting individuals with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses
  • At least one-year, hands-on experience with behavioral interventions and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs)
  • Proven ability to manage crisis situations, de-escalation, and high-risk behaviors
  • Experience in residential, group home, or behavioral health settings

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee residential programs, including high-acuity behavioral homes (AFH settings)
  • Supervise, coach, and develop teams of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
  • Drive implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and partner on Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
  • Provide leadership during crisis situations, ensuring safe, consistent, and compliant responses
  • Collaborate with families, case managers, and clinical teams to ensure quality care
  • Manage program operations including staffing, budgets, and compliance
  • Train new and existing staff on behavioral interventions, safety protocols, and best practices
  • Conduct performance management, including coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary action as needed
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting both traditional and behavioral programs
