About The Position

The Program Director: Educational Quality Improvement provides strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of the medical education quality improvement (QI) program. This role is replacing the former Assistant Dean for Medical Education: Educational Quality Improvement position. This role ensures alignment with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standards, particularly Standard 1.1, and collaborates across units within the Office of Educational Affairs to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Educational Operations and Strategy, the Program Director plays a vital role in maintaining the institution’s commitment to excellence in medical education. This role offers an opportunity to shape and enhance the quality of the medical education program, ensuring it meets the highest standards of accreditation and serves the needs of students, faculty, and the broader community. The Program Director for Medical Education: Educational Quality Improvement is a critical leader in advancing the institution's mission of educational excellence.

Requirements

  • Assistant Professor, Associate, or Professor rank appointed in the UF College of Medicine
  • M.D., Ph.D., or relevant terminal degree
  • Experience with writing accreditation reports (e.g., LCME, ACGME, ACCME, SACSCOC)
  • Experience with data tracking and quality assurance.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and university laws and policies, including FERPA, HIPAA, Title VI, Title IX, and ADA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, discretion, and commitment to excellence.
  • Excellent judgment to handle sensitive and confidential matters.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the medical education quality improvement program, ensuring alignment with LCME Standard 1.1 and other accreditation requirements.
  • Chair the Education Continuous Quality Improvement Committee to monitor elements and identify adherence and potential gaps in alignment with programmatic goals, policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
  • Implement systems and processes to monitor, evaluate, and enhance the quality and effectiveness of the medical education program.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based strategies for enhancement.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with LCME accreditation standards by collaborating with relevant stakeholders and providing oversight of documentation and reporting.
  • Serve as a key resource for faculty and staff regarding accreditation requirements and quality improvement practices.
  • Lead the preparation of materials for LCME site visits, annual reports, and other accreditation-related activities.
  • Work across units within the Office of Educational Affairs to align quality improvement efforts with institutional goals and initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration among curriculum developers, faculty, assessment teams, and administrative staff to ensure a cohesive and high-quality educational experience.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Office of Educational Affairs and other institutional units to promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of educational program data to support informed decision-making.
  • Provide regular reports and recommendations to leadership on program performance, areas of concern, and progress toward improvement goals.
  • Support faculty and staff development in quality improvement and accreditation processes through training and workshops.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and shared responsibility for educational excellence.
