About The Position

Egis is seeking a Program Director to lead its traffic systems management and operations (TSMO) and emerging technology practices. The role provides strategic and technical leadership by setting program direction, priorities, technical standards, and delivery strategies for complex transportation initiatives. The Director advances strategies and solutions that improve system reliability and safety, reduce congestion, enhance traveler information and incident response, and address evolving transportation and operational needs. The position also serves as a national resource for pursuits and projects involving TSMO, ITS, and emerging technology solutions. The Program Director leads the strategy, design, development, and implementation of integrated traffic data systems and their supporting architecture, governance, databases, data platforms, and integration approaches. This includes multi-source data such as detectors, probe data, connected vehicle feeds, CCTV, signal systems, and third-party sources, along with APIs and Center-to-Center connections. The role directs the use of AI platforms, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to generate actionable intelligence and improve transportation operations and planning. The role collaborates with traffic management center staff, operations personnel, ITS engineers, signal technicians, IT teams, agencies, and external partners to turn operational and business needs into technical requirements and deployable solutions. It also guides performance measurement and analysis, dashboards, after-action reporting, TSMO documentation, and technical mentorship across project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
  • 12 or more years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, ITS, TSMO, data management systems, emerging technology, or related transportation technology disciplines, including technical leadership of complex programs or initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multidisciplinary transportation programs and providing technical direction across engineering, operations, technology, and external stakeholder groups.
  • Deep technical expertise in traffic data environments, including data collection systems, data integration, database design and management, and transportation system performance analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of data architecture for APIs and C2C connections and data governance principles in complex transportation environments.
  • Strong knowledge of AI platforms, advanced analytics, TSMO principles, active traffic management strategies, emerging technologies, and real-time operations.
  • Ability to evaluate complex transportation systems and technical challenges, establish strategic direction, and translate technical findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong executive-level communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Experience with ATMS, CAV data, and/or enterprise database solutions supporting transportation operational systems.
