About The Position

For over 40 years, Catholic Charities CCCYO Transportation has been a trusted provider of school bus services to various educational institutions and youth organizations, prioritizing the safety and care of children. This executive-level position, reporting to the Associate Deputy Director of Social Enterprises, holds full operational responsibility for CCCYO Transportation and Catholic Charities' workforce development programs. The role involves planning, directing, and managing all activities related to student transportation, fleet maintenance, and the development and management of workforce development initiatives. This includes preparing individuals for employment, coordinating training, and aligning workforce strategies with community and industry needs.

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience of management in school bus transportation or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong team building, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent administrative, planning, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient keyboarding, data entry, and telephone communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive as required for business purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, planning, implementation, and evaluation of CCCYO Transportation operations and workforce development programs.
  • Establish and implement departmental goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Assess staffing needs and organizational structure for efficient service delivery.
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate department managers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate operational efficiency, identify process improvements, and enhance performance and service quality.
  • Plan, facilitate, and lead departmental meetings and activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with internal departments (People & Culture, Finance, Technology Services) and external stakeholders.
  • Direct all transportation operations, including student transportation, dispatch, fleet maintenance, vehicle repair, and emergency response.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation services while maintaining compliance with all regulations.
  • Oversee fleet utilization, preventive maintenance, asset management, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Supervise transportation and automotive repair shop operations.
  • Respond to and resolve customer, parent, community, and stakeholder concerns.
  • Maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with required endorsements and certifications.
  • Develop and execute workforce development strategies aligned with educational, industry, and community priorities.
  • Establish and expand career pathways, work-based learning, internships, apprenticeships, and certifications.
  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with businesses, educational institutions, and other organizations.
  • Lead professional development initiatives for staff.
  • Develop and maintain systems to monitor program performance, participant outcomes, and equitable access.
  • Analyze and report data to demonstrate program impact and ROI.
  • Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Negotiate, administer, and maintain transportation service contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Maintain and strengthen customer and partner relationships.
  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
  • Lead marketing, outreach, and promotional efforts.
  • Prepare and present operational, financial, compliance, and performance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant, contract, programmatic, transportation, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
