About The Position

The Program Director of Immigration and Citizenship is responsible for overseeing the organization's provision of holistic immigration legal services. This individual provides leadership and direction across all facets of the program including legal services, social services, legal workshops, advocacy, program management, and partnership building. This position ensures that the fiscal and programmatic integrity of the program is maintained and that timely and accurate reports are provided to funders and BakerRipley Management. This role places strong value on the mentorship and development of team members, drives a positive staff culture, and seeks to problem solve as a strong collaborator with other leaders and team members in both program and support areas.

Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • 5+ years Of nonprofit legal services or immigration law practice
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • License to practice law in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Develops and oversees the implementation of Immigration & Citizenship program goals and strategies in collaboration with the Sr. Director and Executive Team.
  • Mentors and supervises program attorneys, social workers, Department of Justice accredited representatives, and support team.
  • Collaborates with other Agency leaders to ensure goal alignment with the Agency mission and strategic direction.
  • Serves as the Agency’s legal expert on immigration issues at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Provides executive summaries to the Agency’s CEO & President on current immigration topics.
  • Tracks, manages, and communicates financial and operational performance, ensuring targets for outputs, outcomes, and accountability are met on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders, including local nonprofit organizations, community partners, and teams to foster collaboration and program integration.
  • Develops strong working relationships with funders and attends funder meetings, as needed.
  • Partners with fundraising, program design, accounting, and grant teams, as needed, to secure funding, manage contracts, and align program opportunities with the program and division’s strategic plans.
  • Ensures that staff are meeting performance objectives for grant requirements and the Agency.
  • Recruits and hires program staff in collaboration with the Manager of Immigration & Citizenship.
  • Manages a small caseload of immigration cases.
  • Oversees the legal and logistical aspects of large pro se events and smaller, in-house workshops.
  • Delivers presentations on immigration law in a variety of settings, ranging from classrooms to large agency events.
  • Serves as the Authorized Official for the program’s Department of Justice (DOJ) R&A status and monitors the standing of accredited representatives and attorneys.
  • Ensures that the legal services office operates in accordance with pertinent laws and regulations.
