About The Position

Manages the administration of policies and programs designed to protect children and families. Ensures mandated services with priority of child safety and service provision to children and families. Directs subordinate managers and staff. The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is a dynamic state agency responsible for delivering a wide range of services to Georgia's most vulnerable populations. Our mission is to strengthen Georgia by providing individuals and families access to services that promote self-sufficiency, independence, and protect Georgia's vulnerable children and adults.

Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state-issued driver’s license, and an acceptable driving history record.

  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and two (2) years experience managing subordinate supervisors in a human service delivery program; or Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Child Welfare Svcs Admr (SSP164) or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the agency management team.
  • Establishes goals, objectives, policies and procedures consistent with the mission of the agency and division.
  • Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure the identified outcome measures are achieved.
  • Evaluates new and current programs to determine efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ensures efficient and timely delivery of services.
  • Directs professional staff in developing their skills, delivering quality services and documenting efforts.
  • Promotes awareness of programs within the community.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by County Director.
