About The Position

Rooted in aloha and kuleana, Hale Kipa is dedicated to supporting and empowering Hawai'i's youth, young adults, and families who are navigating trauma, injustice, and systemic barriers. Through safe and nurturing housing, culturally grounded care, and trauma-informed relationships, we encourage them to discover their passions, embrace their resilience, and thrive as compassionate, responsible leaders in their families and communities. Since 1970, Hale Kipa has championed Hawai'i's youth and children. We provide youth outreach, independent living facilities, therapeutic foster care, a haven for runaways, and more. Our founders recognized a need for a nonprofit to step in to assist this deserving population and we are still doing that critical work today, on O'ahu, Kaua'i, and the Island of Hawai'i. The Program Coordinator supports the daily operations of the transitional program and works closely with the Program Manager to ensure high-quality services, participant engagement, and program compliance. This position is hands-on and participant-facing, providing coordination of services, documentation, and shift coverage while helping maintain a safe, structured, and supportive living environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of experience in human services, housing, shelter, or youth services required.
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills required.
Ability to respond work flexible hours and respond to crisis situations required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries required.
A valid driver's license
Access to a vehicle for work purposes
Current auto insurance and safety check

Nice To Haves

Associates / Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
Experience working with transition-age youth (18–24) preferred.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and housing-first principles preferred.
Familiarity with Hawai'i DHS or HUD-funded programs preferred.
Cultural competence and experience serving Native Hawaiian and local communities preferred.
