About The Position

LEAP is seeking a Program Coordinator who will play a critical role in overseeing an arts integrated, after school program in a New York City public school. He or She will be highly organized, self-motivated, and a creative problem-solver that will ensure quality program execution. The program coordinator will ensure quality arts-based programs through the management of program planning, lesson planning, and fidelity to the LEAP instructional model. Observation of group leaders, activity specialists, teaching artists, etc. as well as providing thoughtful constructive feedback is a critical aspect of the role. An arts educator and administrator, the program coordinator reports to the Portfolio Manager, collaborates with school leadership (Principal, AP, etc.), and receives support from other educational and administrative staff at LEAP. A successful coordinator will have the ability to effectively manage their time and work collaboratively to achieve LEAP’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • A New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential OR A School-Age Child Care Credential OR An associate’s degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience working in an after-school environment and/or arts education
  • Passion for inclusion and advocacy in the arts
  • Clear and confident writer able to communicate results that are actionable
  • A quick learner, with an open-minded perspective
  • A problem solver with a positive attitude and excellent relationship management skills
  • A self-starter: highly effective working independently and within a team
  • Excellent project & process coordination skills, writing, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms)
  • Ability to enter data into an online system
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated involvement with and commitment to the youth community

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred, but not required
  • Strong working knowledge and experience using Salesforce, Zoom, Slack, and Asana

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and security of each participant by ensuring programs operate in compliance with all applicable LEAP, and New York State School Age Child Care protocols and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with school leadership (Principals, APs, etc.) and LEAP staff/departments (Managing Director, Program Ops Team, Finance Team, etc.) to assess school needs, evaluate budget, plan programming, share evaluation tools, and oversee quality delivery.
  • Recruitment & train program staff in a variety of youth and professional development areas; Coordinate and following up on participant outreach, enrollment and attendance to meet programmatic goals and stakeholder benchmarks; Oversee staff scheduling, timesheets & coordination.
  • Plan, organize, and produce LEAP, DYCD and school partnership events evidencing high quality arts-based programming.
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and managing all aspects of a program to ensure its quality, effectiveness, and alignment with stated goals; Ensure all funder and regulatory agency data requirements are met and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure and track that the budget and expenses are aligned and maintained within the organizational financial guidelines, including staffing, supplies, and other expenses.
  • Attend all staff meetings, professional development opportunities, training sessions, & special events to enhance knowledge & skills, as required, inclusive of those outside program hours.
  • Tracking attendance, event participation, surveys, and other organizational data asks, supporting the generation of reports to assess the program's effectiveness.
