About The Position

The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) is hiring a Program Coordinator. The person in this role oversees and manages interscholastic sports competitions involving 180 Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Over 25,000 student athletes participate in nine sports offerings during the school year. The Program Coordinator will assist with all aspects of the CYO direct services.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of college in related field and two years of related experience.
  • CYO policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with DCS schools and administrators.
  • Understanding of youth sports in general.
  • Catholic Charities’ policies, procedures, and organization.
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Display sensitivity, tact, and responsiveness in various situations and needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative.
  • Handles public contact and relations effectively.
  • Organize and direct several activities.
  • Plan short-range activities.
  • Analyze and resolve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the implementation of the CYO sports program including scheduling facilities and officials, maintaining public relations with school officials where sports are played, monitoring officials, coaches and staff.
  • Develops and leads recreation activities to enhance the social development of children or youth. Activities may include individual or group sports and events. Teaches and participates in activities, assesses/reports progress towards goals.
  • Manage Play Like a Champion Today Coaches Training Program.
  • Assume leadership role with Girls Team Sports: Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer.
  • Coordinates Cheer events under CYO.
  • Collaborates on Competition events: Golf, Cross Country, Track & Field, Bowling.
  • Represents CYO positively in communicating with constituents: Principals, Athletic Directors, Coaches, Parents and Vendors.
  • Responds to internal and community correspondence and memos.
  • Represents CYO in designated region as first point of contact. Respond to field inquiries. Schedule and attend all coaches’ meetings for each sport. Post scores on CYO website in a timely manner.
  • Attend all CYO staff and advisory board meetings.
  • Attend and lend support at CYO Playoffs, Competition, Banquet and other official program events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
