The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) is dedicated to eliminating racial and other inequities that lead to premature mortality. CHECW operates with a strong historical and structural analysis, aiming to increase awareness of the harm caused by centuries of racist and socially unjust policies, while advocating for redress for the most impacted NYC communities. The center collaborates with community, faith-based, and healthcare organizations to address inequities across community and healthcare systems. CHECW's focus includes social determinants of health, such as environmental and commercial factors, addressing both upstream and downstream influences to enhance the health and well-being of New Yorkers. The Bureau of Queens Neighborhood Health is a new initiative that will contribute to the broader Neighborhood Health Strategy and align with the efforts of similar bureaus in Brooklyn, Harlem, and the Bronx. This Program Coordinator position is within the newly established Bureau of Queens Neighborhood Health.
