About The Position

The Actors Fund Home, an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care and sub-acute rehabilitation center located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of a CMS Five Star Rating, seeks a Full-Time Program Coordinator to help develop, implement, manage and continuously improve a comprehensive activities program for our residents. Programs are designed to meet the social, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual needs of our residents.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a therapeutic recreation and/or senior activities role.
  • Possesses strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Zoom, Facetime and/or Skype.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and technology.
  • Must be able to transport residents in wheelchair to in-house activities and drive the facility vehicles to events when needed.
  • Must have a driver’s license and a clean driver’s record.
  • Passion to work with seniors and a willingness to learn.
  • Must be a cooperative team player, demonstrate initiative in problem solving, and consistently follow through with tasks.
  • Must be able to pass the facility’s physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to understand and comply with applicable Federal, State and local recreation Regulations and requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with persons with dementia is preferred.
  • Dance/movement experience with a geriatric population strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement recreational programs for residents in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing neighborhoods; programs may consist of group, individual, and/or independent activities.
  • Responsible for a specific neighborhood and all recreation related tasks for the neighborhood including creating meaningful activity ideas for residents.
  • Prepare Activities Calendars.
  • Coordinate with the Recreation team on programming.
  • Occasionally attend resident care plan meetings.
  • Work with volunteers and community organizations on programming.
  • Maintain departmental paperwork and documentation.
  • Understand and carry out The Home’s policies and procedures for safe care of residents during programs and practice appropriate safety measures to prevent infection, accidents, or injury.
