About The Position

Responsible for the overall management and supervision of the Armed Services YMCA Children's Waiting Room site at Camp Lejeune. This includes oversight and supervision of the childcare environment at Navy Medical Center - Camp Lejeune. The role requires attending all ASYMCA mandatory training and staff meetings, and upholding the ASYMCA mission by demonstrating the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children ages 1-12 years old is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience supervising other staff.
  • Ability to relate to parents, military personnel, staff, and children with a positive, creative attitude.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, written or oral.
  • Must be a team/mission-oriented player.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (must remain current throughout employment; can be obtained during training with ASYMCA employment).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate team of childcare staff, ensuring ratios, safety requirements, and enrichment protocols are met.
  • Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with goals, policies, and procedures established by the ASYMCA.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all site staff. Alongside the program director, create progression plans and goals for part-time staff.
  • Establish effective communication with parents and hospital personnel.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of attendance, absentees, and emergency information on each child.
  • Establish emergency procedures appropriate to the site and in conformity with procedures adopted by emergency service authorities to ensure the safety of children.
  • Ensure maintenance of up-to-date records on all children enrolled.
  • Verify medical appointments to ensure program requirements.
  • Responsible for the orderly arrangement, appearance, décor, and the learning environment at the site.
  • Plan and coordinate activities that fit the children’s needs and interests.
  • Preserve the quality of supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain and promptly submit time sheets for all staff.
  • Establish effective communication with the Department of Human Services and the Health Department Representatives or installation equivalents.
