About The Position

We are hiring a Program Coordinator who develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates programs and activities, which encourage the social, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual development of adults 60+ at the Aquatic Park Center. Plans, conducts and manages outreach programs to welcome the neighboring community of adults 60+ , including individuals with behavioral health needs. Collects data that meets the DAS and other funder’s criteria. Programs reflect the interests and needs of the participants. Serves as a member of the inter-disciplinary team composed of management and support services.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, and implements programs with senior center participants and staff input that encourage the social, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual development of participants. Develops and includes, but is not limited to educational, intellectual, cognitive, lifelong learning, cultural, fitness, health and wellness and development of senior center programs.
  • Manages and ensures procedures and processes are followed to protect the safety and welfare of all users of the Aquatic Park Center. Provides backup support to the Program Supervisor when Program Supervisor is offsite. Works with special needs populations, in particular those aging with substance abuse and behavioral health disorders, modeling professional, quality interactions to fellow staff, instructors, and clients.
  • Surveys senior center participants to determine needs, interests and abilities to participate in activities. Gathers information from the participants on the talents that they may have to contribute to the senior center community. Promotes and encourages continued volunteerism within the senior center community.
  • Creates monthly and/or quarterly calendars and newsletters. Decorates the community to recognize a full spectrum of holidays and diverse groups. Organizes and promotes activities through invitations, flyers and internet. Provides updates about resources and information to participants and their family members.
  • Sets up physical arrangements for groups; requests supplies and equipment; follows systems of accountability to ensure that groups and individuals using the center maintain standards of cleanliness and order. Coordinates the set up and breakdown of all programs and is physically present and engaged during the programs. Maintains inventory of material, supplies, and equipment and within approved budget.
  • Utilizes community resources to assist in conducting activities. Plans activities with participants and volunteers and collaborates on resource and service delivery to participants.
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures including operations and technological enhancements; assesses and monitors opportunities for improvement and reviews with the Program Supervisor and implements improvements.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence. Provides monthly status reports. Makes recommendations regarding current trends and projections.
  • Provides translation and direct communication support in Mandarin and Cantonese to facilitate engagement with participants and community partners.
  • Performs other work as assigned.
