About The Position

The University of Toledo seeks a dynamic, student-centered professional to serve as a Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) within our Residential Life Housing team. This position is responsible for the overall management and development of a residential community, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging living environment that supports student success. The RLC provides leadership in the day-to-day operations of one or more residence halls, including supervising student staff (Resident Assistants and/or graduate assistants), implementing educational and community-building initiatives, and supporting student development through intentional programming and engagement. The role includes crisis response and on-call responsibilities, as well as collaboration with campus partners to promote student well-being and retention. Key responsibilities include staff selection, training, and evaluation; community standards enforcement; conflict mediation; and administrative oversight such as occupancy management and facilities coordination. This position plays a vital role in advancing the University’s mission by promoting excellence, student learning, and a strong sense of belonging among residents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, education administration, or closely related field required
  • Commitment to social justice, community advocacy, and working with students of diverse backgrounds is required

  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to work successfully in a team setting

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or closely related field preferred or 4 years of applicable experience in lieu of master’s degree can be accepted
  • Experience with higher education, student conduct, student counseling, conflict management highly preferred
  • Two to Four (2-5) years of experience managing residence facilities, including any graduate level experience in a residence hall
  • Student conduct experience
  • Emergency and crisis response skills
  • Experience working with Living Learning Communities and/or themed communities
