About The Position

The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is seeking a Program Coordinator – Professional Development to join the Workforce Solutions team within its Human Services department. H-GAC is the fiscal agent for the Gulf Coast Workforce Board (GCWB) and aims to expand the reach of the region’s public workforce system. This role supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of training initiatives for Workforce Solutions staff and contracted service providers, ensuring staff are well-trained, supported, and prepared to deliver high-quality services. The Program Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the Board’s Professional Development Team and Training Specialists employed by contracted service providers. The primary focus is on supporting, guiding, and strengthening provider-led professional development efforts to ensure alignment with Board expectations and systemwide standards. This role involves training coordination, facilitation, and collaboration, including delivering select trainings, coordinating logistics, and providing technical assistance. The goal is to ensure professional development activities are consistent, compliant, and impactful by monitoring alignment with guidelines, identifying gaps, and supporting continuous improvement. The role also involves contributing to content development for training materials.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in training coordination, facilitation, workforce development, or a related field
  • Experience delivering or supporting instructor-led or virtual training sessions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate projects, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and collaboration tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
  • 3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SharePoint or LMS platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Human Resources, Communication, or closely related business field
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience working in workforce development, government, nonprofit, or training environments
  • Experience facilitating or supporting professional development of staff training initiatives
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and training methodologies
  • Training or facilitation certifications (may be obtained within one year of employment)
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders or regional partners
  • A critical thinker with problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the Professional Development Team, supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of training initiatives for Workforce Solutions staff and contracted service providers.
  • Work closely with Senior Planners, program leadership, and regional partners to carry out Board-approved training plans and support professional development across the system.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Board’s Professional Development Team and the Training Specialists employed by contracted service providers.
  • Deliver select instructor-led and virtual trainings.
  • Coordinate logistics and communication for professional development activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff in the field.
  • Ensure professional development activities across the region are consistent, compliant, and impactful by monitoring alignment with PD and training guidelines, identifying gaps and strengths, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support content development by contributing to job aids, facilitator guides, and training materials aligned with adult learning principles.
