About The Position

ASCO has a new and exciting opportunity for a Program Coordinator to join our Professional Development Department! The successful candidate will seamlessly coordinate and provide programmatic and administrative support to professional development (PD) programs, meetings, and projects through tasks delegated by supervisor and team members while contributing to department projects and initiatives. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to utilize your planning, communication, and logistical skills while collaborating within a team environment to support medical professional programs, then we want to hear from you! This position is hybrid with a primary location at our headquarters in Alexandria, VA. The hire must reside within 75 miles of our headquarters. We anticipate the hire to be onsite approximately 2-3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • 0-3 years of programmatic or administrative support experience within a professional environment including customer service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) and an openness to embracing and learning new technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous program support experience in non-profits, education, and/or healthcare.
  • Experience planning and developing work plans and agendas, events, material preparation, engagement, and expenses.
  • Proficiency with online application management and survey tools, such as SurveyMonkey Apply, in collecting and reviewing program applications and conducting surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact and administrative lead for the assigned Professional Development councils, programs, and stakeholder volunteer groups, including the Education Council and Leadership Development Program (LDP): Education Scholars.
  • Coordinate logistics for virtual and in-person meetings and retreats, including participant communications, meeting material preparation, and liaising with internal teams and external partners.
  • Coordinate application, review and selection, enrollment, and program execution by serving as the primary ASCO staff contact to applicants, reviewers, and participants of the LDP: Education Scholars Program.
  • Monitor and collate data to evaluate outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide onsite and administrative support to the planning and execution of professional development initiatives at the ASCO Annual Meeting including coordinating medical educator activities and planning of orientations and networking events.
  • Ability to work occasional early mornings and evenings to support in-person session logistics.
