About The Position

This position is located in the Best Practices Unit of the Whole Child Health Section in the Division of Child and Family Well-Being. This position’s primary responsibilities include: Program Planning and Implementation (45%) Staff the toll-free Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Help Line from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday when not conducting outreach activities throughout the state. Promote visibility for NC Medicaid for children and the toll-free Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Help Line. Collaborate with Section staff and other key partners to develop promotional materials for the Help Line and NC Medicaid. Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive directory of resources for families of children and youth with special health care needs. Develop content for Children and Youth with Special Health Needs webpage monthly and maintain and update overall content to ensure accuracy and relevance. Collaborate with Section staff and other key partners to develop print and electronic media for families in the Medicaid Program. Community Outreach (50%) Conduct outreach events across the state focusing on children with special health care needs to promote the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Help Line, the importance of choosing a quality medical home, and making the most of their health insurance benefits. Outreach opportunities will be conducted virtually and in-person. Collaborate with Section staff and other key partners to develop statewide outreach strategies and plans to promote Medicaid enrollment. Position requires extensive statewide travel, which will include evening and weekends. Data Development and Application (5%) Use program data to inform future policy and program development activities as well as to ensure the delivery of family centered care and continuity of services to those calling the toll-free Help Line. Utilize state data platforms and reports to target outreach in promoting visibility for Medicaid for children and access to the toll-free Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Help Line. Participate in quality assurance activities which may include interviewing program participants by telephone and developing quantitative and qualitative data reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in the program related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
