About The Position

The SC Human Affairs Commission is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate to apply for the Program Coordinator II position. This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service. The Program Coordinator II manages the agency's mediation program involving cases of discrimination under the jurisdiction of the SC Human Affairs Law, including employment, non-employment and fair housing.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with Human Affairs and Fair Housing Laws and investigations.
  • Neutrality is essential to maintain the integrity of the mediation process.
  • Physical demands are restricted to office work and transporting material to onsite locations requiring the movement of lifting of items weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Local and state-wide travel required.
  • Requires the ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require attention and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Upon selection of cases for mediation, coordinates the consent of the affected parties to participate in the agency's mediation program.
  • Schedules and conducts mediation conferences involving the parties in selected cases.
  • Concludes cases with preparation of written agreements, when agreement is reached.
  • Forwards selected cases to investigations unit of agency if impasse is declared.
  • Provides mediation training and conducts workshops for employment and non-employment.
  • Reviews and remains educated about the various employment laws and related matters that are relevant to the agency's mission in general and mediation in particular.
