About The Position

The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles is looking for motivated and energetic people to join our team. Start an exciting new career with an organization that is on the move! The primary purpose of Customer Compliance Services is to provide fair and impartial administrative hearings and records integrity on behalf of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles in accordance with Chapter 20 of the North Carolina General Statutes and all applicable policies and procedures. This Unit promotes highway safety in a manner that preserves the legal rights of licensed drivers. This unit also serves as a liaison between DMV and the Administrative Office of the Courts responding to inquiries from the Clerks of Court across 100 counties regarding legal problems concerning driving records requiring an adjudication process of a driving record after interpreting and applying General Statute 20 Motor Vehicle Laws and guidelines in accordance with Division’s policies and procedures. This unit also serves as a problem solver and adjudicator to all NC motor vehicle records to ensure records integrity. This position serves as a liaison between DMV & AOC and responds to inquiries from Clerks of Court, judges and transportation agencies regarding legal problems concerning driving records. This position also serves as a Help Desk to internal staff members of different units to ensure the integrity of the motor vehicle record. This position is required to review records including but not limited to court documents and DMV records in order to render immediate decisions regarding suspensions, revocations, limited driving privileges which may be associated to hearing eligibility. This position provides an adjudication process to driving records which requires problem solving after interpreting and applying applicable guidelines in accordance with Division policies, procedures and General Statute Chapter 20, Motor Vehicle Laws. This position is required to resolve a variety of driver customer problems that do not warrant a hearing and evaluate the driving record to determine if a customer’s driving privilege may be reinstated. The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: Working knowledge of AOC/Clerks of Courts, legal knowledge of driving records and/or customer service regarding legal records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of AOC/Clerks of Courts, legal knowledge of driving records and/or customer service regarding legal records.

  • Demonstrated ability to enter and extract information from mainframe and web-based computer systems and applications.
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret and explain departmental policies and procedures.
  • Experience exercising good judgment and working independently to provide high quality customer service to a varied audience.
