About The Position

Under general direction and supervision from the DPS Aviation Program Coordinator 2, this role maintains all aircraft records in accordance with FAA regulations and State retention policies. The position involves researching and analyzing electronic logbooks for 49 aircraft operated by DPS, entering and analyzing aircraft information in sophisticated online aircraft maintenance software, maintaining on-line databases for aircraft records, updating physical logbooks, and overseeing aircraft paperwork storage methods. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) mission is to ensure public safety and enforce fish and wildlife laws, striving to preserve the peace, enforce the law, prevent and detect crime, and protect life and property. The Aircraft Section contributes to this mission by providing direct support for law enforcement activities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of aircraft engines, parts, and systems, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms.
  • Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Competencies in Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.

  • Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and/or procedures for a program, project, business, or organization.
