About The Position

The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a Program Assistant for the Dornsife Prison Education Project's Reader's Circle, specifically for the "Writing Beyond the Prison" initiative. This project, funded by an ACLS Digital Justice Grant, aims to build a digital-justice ecosystem by supporting incarcerated writers. It involves preparing manuscripts for publication, developing digital curricula on trauma-informed writing and cooperative governance, and integrating humanities education with digital access and authorship pathways. The Readers’ Circle, housed at USC, is a volunteer-based editing network that pairs readers with incarcerated writers. This role will support grant-funded operations for 18 months, working closely with project Co-Investigators to plan and execute workshops focused on manuscript compilation, editing, feedback, and publication support for book-length texts by incarcerated writers.
