About The Position

The Program Assistant works at The Gathering Place, an adult day program serving Windham County, Vermont. The program supports adults with a range of physical and cognitive abilities, offering activities such as music, arts, games, and exercise, as well as companionship. This full-time role is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position assists participants with personal care and activities of daily living, medication distribution, vital-sign documentation, meals, snacks, activities, and exercise. The assistant also shares team tasks such as laundry, cleanup, and putting supplies away. The role requires reliability, teamwork, compassion, and patience. The position pays $18–$20+ per hour. Paid time off and employee-only dental, vision, life, long-term disability, and accidental death and dismemberment coverage are available at no cost; health insurance is not offered. A 403(b) match is available after one year.

Responsibilities

Assist participants with personal care, including toileting, showering, and other activities of daily living.
Distribute medications and observe glucometer use.
Take and document vital signs.
Assist with meal and snack service, including plating and serving.
Help participants take part in activities and exercise.
Share team tasks with coworkers, including laundry, cleanup, and putting supplies away.
