About The Position

The Program Assistant will provide essential support within residential programs, focusing on client well-being and program operations. This role involves direct client interaction, medication supervision, and administrative duties. The position requires a supportive attitude towards individuals recovering from addictions and co-occurring disorders, with a commitment to ongoing professional development in understanding these challenges. A general knowledge of the bio-psychosocial effects of addiction is also necessary. The Program Assistant must be a team player, capable of coordinating client goals and program responsibilities with all staff. A valid Alabama Driver's license and a High School Diploma or GED are required.

Requirements

  • Supportive attitude toward individuals who are recovering from addictions and co-occurring disorders.
  • Understanding of the underlying problems these individuals face during the recovery process.
  • General knowledge of the bio-psychosocial effects of addiction/co-occurring disorder in the individual, family, and community.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented program, coordinating client goals/needs and program operation responsibilities with all staff as a team.
  • Valid Alabama Driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation.
  • Supervise medication protocols and policy.
  • Conduct ongoing alcohol/drug testing of clients.
  • Implement and reinforce program policies as a continuous part of group and individual client interactions.
  • Facilitate intake, transition, and support of clients in medium and low intensity residential programs.
  • Document all interactions and services as they occur, reporting to team leaders and other relevant staff.
  • Participate in all staff discussions relevant to client care.
  • Prepare, serve, and clean up after breakfast.
  • Conduct fire/life/safety room checks during the 11pm-7am shift.
  • Substitute for other program assistant shifts when needed.
  • Serve as a support staff liaison with the Case Management Supervisor regarding medication issues.
  • Perform relevant follow-up regarding medication room management tasks.
