About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Department of Transportation, located at 1405 N Church St, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, Nash County. The agency's mission is to provide a solid Human Resource management foundation, responsible oversight, and creative solutions through a collaborative approach with all stakeholders to maximize the potential of our greatest asset – OUR EMPLOYEES. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must be fully qualified for the job.
• Must separate from permanent or time-limited position to work in a temporary position.
• Must work in only one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

Nice To Haves

• Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.
• Considerable knowledge of operations and standards in the program area of assignment.
• Basic knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.
• Basic knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data and information.
• Perform program analysis and evaluation.
• Communicate effectively with program stakeholders.
• Initiate and install administrative programs and procedures and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures.
• Plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinate employees (if applicable).
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, officials, and the general public.
