About The Position

Under direction, analyzes and evaluates the operations, processes, and systems related to a specific City or department program. Performs a variety of professional tasks in support of program operations and assists in delivering services efficiently and effectively. This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason. The San Antonio Metro Health District (SAMHD) provides public health services to clients, which may include risk for exposure to and possible transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. Staff in high-risk positions will be required to obtain relevant immunizations, per SAMHD Policy DM 13.2. Review and consideration will be given to requests for exemption from this policy. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to work primarily in an office environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in gun violence prevention, violence intervention/interruption, juvenile justice, public health, social services, community outreach, or related fields focused on reducing violence and improving community safety.
  • Experience engaging high-risk youth and young adults in schools, alternative education programs, juvenile detention facilities, reentry programs, or community-based settings.
  • Experience collaborating with school districts, juvenile probation and detention agencies, community-based organizations, and other partners to support violence prevention and intervention efforts.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting violence-prevention initiatives such as conflict mediation, restorative practices, mentoring, youth development activities, and supervising outreach or field-based staff working with individuals at elevated risk of violence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and positive relationships with youth, families, community leaders, and individuals impacted by violence, as well as identify emerging community conflicts, analyze contributing factors, and develop effective intervention strategies to prevent violence and retaliation.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience collecting, tracking, and interpreting program data to evaluate outcomes, identify trends, and improve violence reduction strategies.
  • Knowledge of risk factors associated with youth violence, gang involvement, retaliatory violence, and other drivers of community gun violence.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in gathering, interpreting, analyzing, and evaluating program data related to performance metrics and compliance with established rules and regulations.
  • Assists with interpreting and communicating program guidelines and related City policies and procedures.
  • Maintains relationships with community and partner organizations regarding program initiatives.
  • Assists in managing budgets and resources to ensure that program meets scope, guidelines, and budget.
  • Monitors compliance with established program requirements associated with contracts and/or grants.
  • Assists in identifying and prioritizing operational and technical needs and requirements.
  • Assists with implementing program operations, initiatives, and services.
  • Participates in community outreach to ensure awareness and participation in programs.
  • Assists in coordinating with relevant department and city staff regarding program needs.
  • Assists in the preparation of written reports, summaries, and presentations on program plans and performance metrics.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
