About The Position

The Program Aide supports staff in assigned programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. The role helps create a safe, fun environment where members can learn and grow. The aide works with children and members in areas such as academic success, education and career, health, and physical education, and may assist instructors, coordinators, classroom teachers, or fitness directors. The position is responsible to the supervisor of the assigned area. Some local travel may be required. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in a moderately loud environment.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County’s core program areas, including academic success, education and career, health, and physical education.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others.
• High energy, endurance, and patience.
• Comfort working with different personalities in an informal environment.
• Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
• Ability to model appropriate behaviors at all times.
• Ability to address and de-escalate crises.
• Ability to communicate successfully through speaking and writing.
• Ability to walk throughout the workday, stand for sustained periods, and monitor members.
• Ability to hear in a moderately loud environment and use close and distance visual acuity.
• Ability to occasionally sit, bend, type for extended periods, and lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Stimulate members’ interest and participation in assigned areas such as reading, math, nutrition, and fitness.
• Help maintain classroom materials and fitness equipment.
• Assist instructors, coordinators, classroom teachers, or fitness directors as assigned.
• Help mobilize members to attend or participate in programs.
• Help maintain discipline and ensure adherence to Boys & Girls Clubs rules.
• Develop a positive atmosphere that encourages members to achieve long-term academic and social goals.
• Assist with collecting and tabulating data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
