About The Position

The Program Administrator supports the academic and administrative operations of the Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering (CUE) Department and the Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. This is a dedicated position to CUE, supporting the Undergraduate and Graduate programs, with the position reporting to the CUSP Assistant Director for Academic Administration and Student Engagement and the CUE Assistant Director. Working in close partnership with the CUE education team, the position will support the effective delivery of both CUE and CUSP graduate programs. The role serves as a central operational resource for program administration, student engagement, and academic programming, coordinating activities across the student lifecycle from enrollment and matriculation through program participation and retention while contributing to the efficiency and cohesion of the CUE–CUSP education partnership. Key responsibilities include coordinating enrollment and matriculation processes; planning and executing CUE and CUSP events; and supporting academic programming, including workshops, speaker series, and community- building initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in higher education administration, student affairs, education, business administration, public administration, engineering, computer science, data science, or a related interdisciplinary field.
  • 3+ years professional experience providing administrative or operational support in higher education, research, technical, or project-based environments, supervision and managing budgets.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and roles.
  • Required demonstration to build and sustain collaborative relationships across a wide range of stakeholders at the University and beyond, including partners at the city, state, national, and international levels.
  • The role requires the ability to work effectively across functions and teams, engaging constructively with students, staff, faculty, alumni, and administrators while contributing to a collaborative and responsive academic environment.
  • The position also requires sound judgment in coordinating with supervisors and program leadership, proactively sharing information, surfacing issues, and supporting effective decision-making.
  • A working understanding of science and technology, and of their societal impact, is expected.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation abilities are essential, as is strong organizational and interpersonal capacity.
  • Proficiency with standard productivity tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and general computer literacy are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in student affairs, higher education administration, project management, engineering, computer science, education, technology, communications, organizational leadership, or a related interdisciplinary field.
  • 3+ years Demonstrated experience supporting student recruitment, student engagement initiatives, or graduate program administration, with evidence of successful collaboration with faculty, staff, and institutional partners.
  • Strong understanding of data management practices within academic or administrative systems, including the ability to collect, maintain, and report accurate data in institutional platforms.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, security protocols, and responsible data handling practices is expected to ensure compliance with University policies and applicable legal standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of data quality and integrity when collecting, entering, and managing information within institutional systems.
  • Experience working with administrative or academic data while adhering to established data privacy, security, and compliance protocols in alignment with University policies and applicable legal standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage thoughtfully and diplomatically with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive information and navigating complex situations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accountability for assigned responsibilities in a fast-paced academic environment.
