About The Position

Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a Carnegie classified R2 institution, seeks an outstanding Program Administrator for its Master of Arts in Yoga Studies program. This role involves providing day-to-day oversight, including the development, administration, and supervision of LMU's Yoga Studies programs, as well as elective certificate programs. The administrator will manage the application and enrollment process, financial aid disbursement, and academic advising for graduate students. A key aspect of this position is managing program communications and serving as the central outreach contact for foundation and government grants, both nationally and internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, health-related fields, or business.
  • Minimum four years of progressively responsible experience in higher education program coordination and student advisement or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of academic guidelines, admission, recruitment, and retention practices for graduate higher education programs.
  • Experience in advertising and marketing.
  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
  • Skilled in proofreading and editing practices.
  • Highly developed organizational and analytic skills.
  • Demonstrated computer competency, preferably advanced knowledge of word processing formatting for high-level research publications and knowledge of database management and qualitative research software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day oversight of the Master of Arts in Yoga Studies program.
  • Develop, administer, and supervise LMU's Yoga Studies programs, including elective certificate programs.
  • Oversee the application and enrollment process, the disbursement of financial aid, and academic advising of graduate students.
  • Manage communications for the program and serve as the central outreach person for foundation and government grants.
  • Advise Yoga Studies graduate students on the certificate program, matching student interests with program offerings.
  • Organize and maintain academic documentation of graduate students and program alumni.
  • Direct internal and external communications strategy, initiatives, projects, processes, and procedures for the Yoga Studies Program.
  • Conceive, write, edit, and produce advertising and marketing strategies, including social media, advertisements, announcements, listings, fliers, brochures, press releases, website oversight, and mailing lists.
  • Develop and oversee web-based communication strategies to promote Yoga Studies activities, faculty, and students.
  • Serve as liaison with Graduate Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid Offices regarding student applications, enrollment, and standing.
  • Resolve non-routine issues related to student academic progress.
  • Conceptualize and oversee Yoga Studies activities for students and community members in consultation with faculty, such as Yoga Day, lectures, conferences, retreats, concerts, and dinners.
  • Communicate with donors, foundations, and government agencies, representing Yoga Studies at Foundation retreats and seeking research grants for students and faculty.
  • Be involved with all aspects of the grant process, from conceptualization to application, disbursement, and reporting.
  • Oversee the work of four Yoga Studies graduate assistants in support of faculty research, special events, and videotaping of lectures.
  • Represent Yoga Studies programs at professional organizations and association meetings for recruitment purposes.
  • Perform ongoing assessment of Yoga Studies programs, collecting and compiling data, evaluating results, and making recommendations.
  • Facilitate interface between faculty and the LMU Office of Assessment.
  • Manage budgets in collaboration with the Program Director and administrative assistant, including monitoring grant-funded programs and the operating budget.
