About The Position

The Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Special Programs Division, is seeking Inclusion Support Staff for year-round, part-time employment opportunities. These positions support participants with disabilities in accessing and engaging in various activities including childcare programs, classes, special events, and recreation activities. The Program Access initiative ensures individuals with disabilities can participate fully in these programs. Opportunities are available across Prince George's County, with specific locations in Northern, Countywide, and Southern areas. Starting positions and pay rates are determined by age and previous experience.

Requirements

Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with supervisors, staff, participants, and parents/guardians.
Willingness to actively participate in all program activities, assist with the adaptation of activities, and help facilitate social interaction between participants.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide professional, respectful, and inclusive customer service to participants with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with children, adults, or individuals with disabilities.
Experience working in recreation, childcare, education, therapeutic recreation, or a related setting.
Experience supporting activity adaptations, social interaction, or inclusive participation for individuals with diverse needs.

Responsibilities

Support participants with disabilities in accessing and actively participating in recreation programs, childcare, classes, and special events.
Adapt activities, provide individualized support, and encourage social interaction and engagement with peers.
Communicate with program staff, supervisors, participants, and families.
Document and address participant needs as appropriate.
