The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) at Cornell University invites applications for two professorial positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. Candidates’ research interests and plans should align with the mission and thematic focus of DNS, whose research spans Nutrition for Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition for Metabolic Health, Nutrition for Public Health and Health Equity, and Nutrition for Precision Health. The Division is particularly interested in candidates with expertise across multiple domains and a commitment to translational nutrition research, including work that connects behavioral research with community implementation and public health impact, molecular mechanisms with human physiology and health, or data science methods with nutrition. Candidates working at the intersection of nutrition and other fields are also encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are expected to have a record of high-quality research commensurate with rank; maintain a strong, externally funded research program and high level of scholarly activity; supervise and mentor PhD and other graduate students; and teach and coordinate nutrition or related courses at undergraduate and graduate levels. They will build academic linkages within DNS and with other university departments and centers, forge professional relationships across campus, and contribute academic service at the Division, College, and/or University level. These are nine-month appointments with the expectation of tenure. Each position is designated as 60% research and 40% teaching/instruction. Salary depends on experience and expertise and is described as competitive with comparable positions at peer universities. The positions are onsite at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. DNS is Cornell’s home for human-centered nutrition research, teaching, and extension. Its work draws on chemical, biological, and social sciences to study human nutrition from cells to society and to translate knowledge into evidence-based actions, population interventions, and education. The Division has shared research infrastructure that includes a Human Metabolic Research Unit, a Nutritional Chemistry Laboratory, and a Molecular and Cellular Laboratory. The Cornell Center for Precision Nutrition and Health, established in 2022 by the College of Human Ecology, is led from DNS. The Division is also the administrative home for the Cornell Graduate Fields of Nutrition and Epidemiology and supports undergraduate and graduate programs, training grants, extension and community nutrition education, international nutrition, and related academic programs.
